The route reality from Dhaka
There is no direct flight from Dhaka to Australia. Every ticket routes through a hub — Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Doha or Dubai are the realistic choices — and the hub you pick changes the price, the baggage allowance and how tired you are on arrival.

Perth is the shortest flight from most Gulf and Southeast Asian hubs because of geography — if you're studying in Perth or Adelaide, a Dubai, Doha or Singapore routing is usually faster than flying via Sydney first. Adelaide has fewer direct international links, so many students land in Melbourne or Sydney and take a short domestic hop.
One-way vs return — what to actually buy
Australia's Department of Home Affairs does not require a return ticket to grant your student visa, but some airlines and check-in staff still ask for onward proof.

Return fares are sometimes ৳10,000–20,000 cheaper than one-way due to airline pricing quirks — compare both before deciding, but never let a return-only deal force an early re-entry date.

Use Google Flights or Skyscanner to compare, then book directly with the airline. It's far easier to change later, and Dhaka travel agents often add ৳3,000–8,000 in service fees for the same seat.

Singapore Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Emirates and Qatar all run unpublished student fares with extra baggage (often +10–15kg) and reduced change fees. Call the airline's Dhaka office or an IATA agent with your CoE and visa grant letter in hand.

Tuesday and Wednesday departures are consistently cheaper. Avoid mid-to-late February and early July — peak semester intake — when fares rise 20–30%.

Choose layovers of 3–5 hours
Under two hours risks a missed connection with checked bags; over eight hours means an overnight cost. Confirm whether Bangladeshi passport holders need a transit visa for your specific hub (Hong Kong and some Gulf transits have conditions).

You may need it for insurance claims, and immigration occasionally asks for proof of how the ticket was funded.
